Adam Green’s Hatchet II will receive its world premiere when it opens this year’s Film4 FrightFest on Thursday August 26. Hatchet-man Green, plus leading iconic cast including Kane Hodder, Danielle Harris and Tony Todd will be gracing London's Empire Cinema on Thursday August 26th to kick-off what is expected to be the festival's busiest and most fan-friendly event to date.
Hatchet II resurrects the villainous Victor Crowley, who terrorised the bayou in the ground-breaking international hit Hatchet. The movie promises even more gut-wrenching gore, pitch-black humour and blood-spilling fun. Green said today, “Having the World Premiere of Hatchet II as the opening night of FrightFest is really a homecoming for my monster Victor Crowley and I. It’s important to me that the first audience to see this should be the very audience that breathed life into Hatchet and turned it into a franchise. While the first film was a love letter to the films I grew up on, this film is my love letter to the fans - the original "Hatchet Army".
Although FrightFest have premiered both Hostel and Cabin Fever, Eli Roth will be making his first appearance at FrightFest when he and up-and-coming director Daniel Stamm close the festival with the European premiere of the much-anticipated The Last Exorcism on Monday August 30. Roth said: “Finally, I get to attend FrightFest in person. It’s a festival I have always admired and supported from afar and I can’t think of a better place for The Last Exorcism to make its UK debut”.
The Last Exorcism sees the disillusioned Reverend Cotton (played by Patrick Fabian) arrive at a Louisiana farm expecting to perform his last ‘routine’ exorcism but nothing could prepare him for the true horrors that lie ahead….You can view the trailer below but do watch out as its pretty scary.
Film4 FrightFest 2010 runs from Thursday 26th August to Monday 30th August at the Empire Cinema, Leicester Square. The full line up will be announced on 2nd July. Festival and day passes go on sale from 3rd July. Tickets for individual films on sale from 26th July.
