If there’s one thing that FrightFest does so well and that is choosing an eclectic mix of movies, a bit like Zone Horror really. This was illustrated perfectly with the UK premiere of the Sean Ellis movie The Broken. This smart and clever supernatural shocker concerns a woman who follows her doppelganger home, thus creating a chain of events that will change her life and her family forever. With a dynamic soundtrack that really did emphasis the scarier moments, it was an incredible experience and the oblique and twisting plot created much discussion from the crowd when the titles began to run.
One of the most talked about movies this year is on tonight at 9pm. Martyrs is billed as a ballsy piece of filmmaking and promises to test the staying power of even the most hardened horror fan. So we’re all off to see if it lives up to its controversial reputation. Will let you know if we can take right after the screening!
