More classics from the vaults of Hammer come to the Horror Channel this February and this time we’re exposing you to the darker side of the studio with a pair of movies that illustrate just how inventive and daring Hammer could be.
February 3rd - Hands Of The Ripper
Hammer delivers top-drawer psychological scares in the smart and shocking slasher Hands Of The Ripper. In Edwardian London the daughter of Jack the Ripper is haunted by the memory of her evil father murdering her mother and may be uncontrollably emulating him. Starring Eric Porter, Angharad Rees and Jane Merrow and directed by Peter Sasdy, a man behind many of their later classics this is a bloody and unforgettable journey into unimaginable madness.
February 18th - Demons Of The Mind
The studio really did push the envelope with Demons Of The Mind, a slick and twisted Hammer horror that stars Paul Jones, Patrick Magee, Yvonne Mitchell and Robert Hardy. Baron Zorn keeps his teenage children imprisoned, drugged and separated to temper their incestuous attraction and stop his insane wife's cursed legacy from passing to them. Intense and claustrophobic the film is unique in the Hammer cannon of work and stands as one of their more controversial movies.
