If there’s one thing that FrightFest guarantees its audience and that’s to expose them to some of the most controversial product around. They make no bones about it, not every movie will be for everyone, but exists to open viewers eyes to new and exciting genres, themes and directors. Something we at Zone Horror constantly strive to do. We aim to show you features from some of the most talented and debated movie makers around. Look at tonight’s line up as an example, there are three movies voted to be shown by you as part of our Your Say Sunday strand. And what an excellent choice you’ve made. Not as predicatble as you might think it would be. To discover which titles were chosen tune in from 9pm.
But getting back to FrightFest, the point I’m making is that today’s first movie Jack Ketchum’s The Girl Next Door was an uncompromising and brutal take on a true life incident which tested the staying power of the crowd. It was vivid and bold and made the audience sit up and discuss its values of whether it was too harsh or not harsh enough. This is the idea at the heart of FrightFest to get like minded people to debate what they’ve seen and to get more out of each movie experience.
