It's a very big day at FrightFest, not only is there four European premieres, a world premiere and the opening of the Discovery Screen, but also Master of the Macabre Dario Argento is going to be here. Argento will be chatting on stage to Total Film's Jamie Graham about his stunning cinematic career as well as witnessing the launch of the book Dario Argento: The Man, The Myths, The Magic written by Alan Jones.
But before that we have something very special. The original cut of Clive Barker's Nightbreed has been subject to much debate with stories of missing scenes, lost footage and special edition releases. Then two European work prints were discovered containing additional sequences thought irretrievably lost. Now by combining these with the original 1990 release a version of Barker's original vision has been completed and is now ready to be seen in Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut.
The film is set in the underworld of Midian where creatures of the night dwell after they die. Boone is the human monster who joins their ranks after his death is set up by demented psychiatrist Decker hoping to learn the secrets of eternal life.
Derided by critics when it was originally released this film is now in the form that it was supposed to be seen, especially as it stars David Cronenberg in the unforgettable role of Decker.
This is going to be something very special and one FrightFest fans have been waiting for.
