If you fancy a zombie movie that has heart as well as plenty of guts then check out the Discovery Screen today as there’s another chance to see Dominc Brunt's directorial debut, Before Dawn.

This raw and intelligent piece of cinema concerns a married couple (played by Brunt and wife Joanne Mitchell) who go away to try and patch their marriage. But this breakaway in a stunning location soon turns into a hellish nightmare as the undead are scouring the landscape.

Written from a story developed by Joanne this shows that the UK has the talent to produce sincere and heartbreaking horror. Brunt has an eye for detail contrasting the green and lush countryside with pale and intense colours and is not one to shy away from the brutality of it all. One of my favourites from the whole festival.
