Long considered by many horror fans to be the best of all the Halloween sequels, Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers comes to Blu-ray for the first time in the UK and it's never looked better.
Ten years to the day of that fateful Halloween when the adult Michael Myers first terrorized the sleepy town of Haddonfield, Illinois, the malevolent monster awakes from a decade-long coma, escapes incarceration and returns home. His latest prey is his niece, Jamie Lloyd, a young girl whose short life has been plagued by recurring nightmares involving her evil uncle. The only man aware of the true horror of the situation is Dr. Sam Loomis, Michael's childhood psychiatrist and now the killer's nemesis.
The one Halloween sequel that has actually improved with age, it's a perfect example of how 1980s slashers put most modern-day horror flicks to shame. Danielle Harris, in her debut feature, is a revelation. There are plenty of cool and entertaining nods and references to John Carpenter's original and to Jamie Lee Curtis. The film also features numerous unforgettable sequences, not least of which are the nightmarish "multi-Michael moment" and director Dwight Little's homage to Sam Peckinpah.
Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myerswill come to the Blu-ray format on October 15th thanks to Anchor Bay.
