Quatermass Coming To Blu-ray

Quatermass And The Pit CoverDigitally restored and with brand new extras Hammer's Quatermass And The Pit will hit the Double Play format (meaning it comes on DVD and Blu-ray) on October 10th thanks to Studio Canal.

The third in the trilogy of films based on Nigel Kneale's seminal Quatermass series, Quatermass And The Pit was made by Hammer Studios in 1967, directed by stalwart Roy Ward Baker and starring Andrew Keir as the titular scientist, battling evil alien forces that threaten to take over the world, and also stars James Donald, Barbara Shelley and Julian Glover. Nigel Kneale's Quatermass series has been said to have influenced everyone from John Carpenter to Doctor Who.

The brand new extras include: New UK exclusive interviews with Julian Glover, Mark Gatiss, Judith Kerr, Kim Newman, Joe Dante and Marcus Hearne, Audio commentary with Nigel Kneale and Roy Ward Baker, World of Hammer – Sci-Fi Episode, UK and US trailers.

Classic Carpenter now in 4K

John Carpenter 4K ReleasesSTUDIOCANAL is celebrating the celebrate the work of the master of '80s sci-fi, fantasy and horror, John Carpenter, with the announcement of brand new 4K restorations of some of his most iconic titles: The Fog, They Live, Escape From New York and Prince Of Darkness. All four brand new 4K restorations were done using the original camera negatives, with the colour grading approved for the new restorations and UHD versions by the films' Cinematographers: Gary B Kibbe and Dean Cundey.
