Booth's Blog: Nazi Zombies rock with Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead UK TV premiere TONIGHT!
By Emily Booth, Friday 25th November 2016
Emily Booth Green Top Image 1Zombies are pretty darn fine villains on their own considering their insanely popular ubiquitous nature, but mash them up with one of the greatest evils in the history of humanity, the Nazi, and you've got some truly nasty muthas on your hands...

The Nazi Zombie resonates deeply within our consciousness, and has enjoyed several incarnations since WWII itself. I was rather surprised to find Nazi Zombies pop up in a film as early as 1943; normally it takes a good decade or so before real life villains make it into the movies, so it doesn't seem in bad taste! Yet back in 1943, still 2 years to go before the end of those nasty Nazis, and we have Revenge of the Zombies, about a secret Nazi doctor plotting to raise an undead army to serve Hitler! Clearly they were not too scared of rocking the politically-correct boat back then. Since then we've had The Frozen Dead (1967), Shock Waves (1977), Zombie Lake (1980), and the popular Outpost films to name a few. Cut to the modern day, and arguably the best (and definitely the most fun) Nazi Zombie franchise to grace our screens is Dead Snow (2009). What I'm offering you my demented friends is the superb sequel, Dead Snow 2 Red Vs. Dead, which makes its UK TV premiere TONIGHT!!!!

First things first, let me quash any reservations you may have about dodgy sequels, for Dead Snow 2 thankfully retains the same director (Tommy Wirkola), the same crew, and the last remaining survivor of the original, picking up the action directly from where the first left off. So in case you don't remember, Martin (Vegar Hoel), having chainsawed off his own arm to avoid zombie infection, is now racing along in his car only to discover he still has one of the gold coins which pre-empts another vicious attack. Cut to him awake in hospital with calm, soothing doctors assuring him they found his arm in the car, and sewed it back on, and all is fine. Except it so isn't. What they've mistakenly done is sew on the arm of Nazi leader Herzog which was found in his car! From here on in expect total mental carnage and ridiculous amazingness, as Martin's arm still has the spirit of Herzog within, and has certain powers of its own! Martin winds up with an American trio known as The Zombie Squad, whom fans will no doubt love to identify with as they turn out to be diehard geeks who've bitten off more than they can chew; something the zombies on the other hand don't have a problem with! I won't give much more away, but considering the movie title, the Nazi army is on the rise; only this time, Martin's raising his own undead dudes to take them on! Expect the ante pumped up way beyond 11 on this one.

Dead Snow 2: Red Vs. Dead is THE perfect way to spend your Friday night - pure popcorn carnage for diehard fans. I guarantee a fun ride here! Catch this unmissable UK TV premiere tonight at 10.45pm!
