EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH E.G. DAILY, HORROR'S LEADING LADY
By James Whittington, Tuesday 18th September 2007

E.G. Daily is one of Hollywood’s most recognisable ladies, not only for her looks but for her unmistakable voice. She recently appeared on Zone Horror in the movies Mustang Sally's Horror House and Bad Dreams. We thought it was time to catch up with this multi talented actress to find out how she started in the business and what plans she has for the future.

ZH: How did you get started in the entertainment industry?

EG DAILY: Had an agent when I was 8, .didn’t know what I was doing for a long time. Learned on the way, started booking jobs around 15.

ZH: You appeared in some of the classic American TV shows such as Laverne & Shirley, CHiPs and Fame, were these good places to build your acting skills?

EG DAILY: Awesome learned a lot on the job, different sets, different locations.

ZH: What was the first movie you appeared in?

EG DAILY: Hmmm not sure, Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains, Escape Artist then onto Street Music. I can’t remember the order I did a lot of films right out of High School?

ZH: Was it a positive experience?

EG DAILY: Always amazing. Every set, every director, every co star, and every location they were all amazing. Learned so much.

ZH: One of the first movies that we here in the UK got to see you in was Bad Dreams (now showing on Zone Horror). Can you remember much about the shoot?

EG DAILY: Loved the director, I remember loving playing that kind of crazy. Also having to shoot at night in a slimy lake ewwwww...

ZH: Do you like horror movies?

EG DAILY: Sometimes, not my favourite. Love being in them the most.

ZH: Do you ever question the levels of violence and gore that may be contained in your movies?

EG DAILY: Yes, I am a Mom.

ZH: You began to get a lot of voice work after Bad Dreams, how did this come about?

EG DAILY: Did a play and had to do a lot of voices, different voices. An agent handed me his card... Rest is history

ZH: One of your most recent movies, Mustang Sally's Horror House has just been shown here on Zone Horror. Can you tell us how this project came about?

EG DAILY: Had known the director since I was a kid, he always said he was going to put me in one of his movies ... cut to ... recently! Ran into him at a Mel's Dinner. He goes, “I was just talking about you” and, “how I want you to this role in my movie” He handed me the script and ...

ZH: It's a bizarre movie but also a lot of fun, what was the atmosphere like on set?

EG DAILY: Like being at camp only everyone was half naked, and hot, and we sat. Loved working with Iran the director

ZH: Would you like to return to the character?

EG DAILY: Hmmmm not sure ... depends on the script

ZH: Acting isn't you only talent as your vocal has graced many soundtracks, have you had any coaching?

EG DAILY: Lots. I am a big believer in studying, being the best at what you do incredibly skilled. Your chances are greater. Soundtrack work is one of my favourite secret jobs not really secret but most people don't know I do it or how much.

ZH: So what's work life like for you as one day you can be the voice of Tommy Pickles from Rug rats, the next you're starring as Candy in The Devil's Rejects? Very few actors get the chance to have such scope.

EG DAILY: The best, don't like to get stuck doing the same thing all the time love change. It’s all about being creative ... just different forms of it.

ZH: You're a multi talented artist, is there one aspect of your career you enjoy the most?

EG DAILY: Being a Mom is my greatest creative production everything else is right under that.

ZH: Is there one piece of work you're most proud of?

EG DAILY: Dog Fight ... cool movie and loved my part, Devils, Pee Wee, Valley Girls , Fandango, Cutting Room...I really like doing all my films

ZH: Have you ever had a weird experience when meeting fans of your work?

EG DAILY: No people are pretty cool. The fans I have gotten to meet in person. Only one guy creeped me out, saw his pic online the next thing he's looking at me through a crowd in a different city ... weird energy he had, but most are great!

ZH: Do you have a favourite director that you've worked with or would like to work with?

EG DAILY: Like to work with Baz Lerhman who directed Moulin Rouge, love him. Have to

work with him! I have to say I have worked with so many amazing directors already so blessed.

ZH: So what projects are you working on at the moment?

EG DAILY: Editing a reality show, I’m in very cool project can’t wait to air it. Just opened for Heart, so cool. And looking at some films I might do next ...oh re-modelling a new home that's a huge project but love it.

ZH: E.G. Daily, thank you very much.

EG DAILY: Welcome! xx EG
