By James Whittington, Saturday 26th August 2017

Sally Dexter is one of the UK's most respected actresses. Her performances on stage and screen have lead to acclaimed and awards over the last few decades. Now, Sally is the star of Dominic Brunt's incredible film, Attack of the Adult Babies, so we chatted to her about this unique movie.

HC: You've had an incredible career gaining huge acclaimed across both sides of the Atlantic, how did you get your first acting break?

SD: I guess it was at drama school- I went to LAMDA and we did a musical 'Babes in Arms' for our final show- I guess it suited my voice or something 'cos I got offers from 13 agents!!! I was flabbergasted!!!

HC: Are you a fan of the horror genre?

SD: I'm certainly a big fan of being IN the horror film genre..!

HC: How did you become involved with Attack of the Adult Babies and what did you think of the script the first time you read it?

SD: They asked me! I'm still slightly mystified as to why - but absolutely delighted that they did! I thought the script was funny and shocking and clever- and I loved it!

HC: Your character is a scheming but smouldering and controlling lady, did you base her on anyone?

SD: I'm not sure I specifically based her on anyone- she just jumped out of the page at me all by herself really, although there was that teacher in infant school!

HC: What was the atmosphere like on set?

SD: The atmosphere on set was focused and fun and very creative!

HC: How do you think the crowd at FrightFest will reacted to AotAB?

SD: Hmmm, hard to say as I've never been to a FrightFest before- but I think they'll LOVE IT ! I certainly imagine they'll be intrigued at the very least, and astounded at times- can't wait to find out!

HC: Are you nervous about the world premiere?

SD: Not nervous, excited!!!

HC: Would you work with Dominic as a director again?

SD: Dominic is a FAB director - I'd work with him again in a shot - be it from gun, arrow, spear or as we have it at one point in the show - letter spike...

HC: Your career has taken you from stage to big and small screens, where are you happiest?

SD: Ahhh well, I always aim to commit fully to what I'm working on in the present moment- which right now is Emmerdale! I adore being part of such cracking team- and am very happy they've let me join in!!!

HC: Sally Dexter, thank you very much.

SD: I've enjoyed your questions James, so thank YOU, very much!

This title crept up on me, I knew little about it so went in blind, came out the other end disturbed, challenged and I have to admit, a bit emotional. The Boy Behind the Door takes a very sensitive subject, that of child abduction and the evils which go along with it, and ramps it to an extreme and intense level.

Twelve-year-old Bobby (Lonnie Chavis) and best friend, Kevin (Ezra Dewey) are abducted on their way home from school and taken to a house surrounded by miles of bleak, dark country in every direction. Bobby manages to escape his confines and quietly navigates the dark h...

Kim Newman

Respected journalist, film critic, and fiction writer Kim Newman takes us through the celebrated B-movies joining Horror for our Classic Sci-Fi Weekend event running from 16th-17th of April.

The Horror Channel returns to a decade riven with fears of devastating climate change, imminent global war, mutating diseases and general paranoia... albeit in black and white, with miniature effects and make-up masks rather than CGI and the kind of urgency that means world-menacing phenomena can be invoked, allowed to run rampage and then dispelled in well under ninety minutes of crisp, sometimes poetic, sometimes bombastic melodrama.

The times weren't really simpler, and neither were the movies i...
